Despite the weatherman’s forecast of occasional showers on Sunday May 3, and Monday May 4, the Bakersville Planting Festival will go on as planned!
We have lots of indoor space and attractions, and several large tents where folks can get out of the rain if we do get an occasional shower. There will be about one hundred vendors of plants, crafts and lots of other cool stuff, not to mention a top-notch selection of gardening speakers sheduled for both days.
So whether you’re looking for heirloom plants, organic-lifestyle crafts, or maybe just want to enjoy a day of bluegrass music and camaraderie with like-minded neighbors and friends, do plan to attend either day. Or better yet, come on out both days! Don’t let a little rain stop you!
I attended the soggy festival today on my first trip to Baker Creek (although I’ve been a loyal seed-buyer for a while). I remain to be very impressed with the cordiality of the staff, who managed to keep my Buick from getting stuck. Everyone (and I do mean everyone) was so pleasant and unaffected by the rain and mud. What a wonderful day. Congratulations!

Have heard the festival was called off due to rain and mud. We are so looking forward to coming tomorrow! Tell me it isn’t rained out! This will be our first festival. Cannot wait
Went to Festival on Sunday. Rainy, muddy, and alot of fun. Even if parking was a mess, we had a 4×4 and was told to take a different route and just keep driving to the top. Alot of vendors and everyone was very friendly despite the cool and the rain. Wanted to look more at the seeds but it was so crowded, oh well I live fairly close I can always go back on a quieter day. Had fun thanks for the effort envolved in pulling it off.

Another May fest is behind us and we have lots of memories. 
I was absolutely thrilled to attend this festival. I came both yesterday and today and both days were equally amazing. I’ve never had such a great time in the mud and rain! I loved all the positive attitudes and all that was involved. I can’t imagine anything that could have made these past two days more memorable, more fun, or more worth coming!! Great job everyone!!!!!
