Delicious

TM164

90 days This tomato was developed many years ago by Burpee's from "Beefsteak" tomato, after 13 years of selection for smoother fruit. This really big tomato produces huge 1-to 3-lb fruit that are fairly smooth for a giant tomato, and as the name implies, these are delicious! In 1986 it set the world record for weight, with a giant 7 lb 12 oz fruit! Image provided by www.abundantacres.net

THESE TOMATOES ARE WONDERFUL MIX OF SWEET AND ACIDIC FLAVOR-LIKE THE OLD FASHIONED FLAVOR WE TALK ABOUT. IS GREAT ON A BLT OR IN SALADS. A NICE MIX WITH A SUPERSWEET FOR CAPRESE. VERY PROLIFIC TOO..

Awesome Tomato Review by Unknown

I had six plants that each grew over six feet tall - lots of fruits and made it through the season, resisting the blight longer than anything else. Excellent taste..

HUGE and DELICIOUS!!! Review by gardenfrog

Overall Rating

In a year of blight that destroyed over half of my tomato crop this year, "Delicious" was one of three varieties I grew that was unaffected by this year's malady. Delicious actually produced a HUGE compact plant with loads of almost perfectly-formed bright red globes of 1.5 to 3-pound tomatoes with loads of moderately-sweet meat and little gel. This is a new favorite that I recommend to all of you wanting those "bragging rights" in the garden community! "Ribbit!".

Best Red Tomato Review by TurboMicah

Overall Rating

The Delicious tomato is a very strong plant! I experienced too much rain this season, and a late case of blight. When everything in the garden was gone, my Delicious tomatoes were still thriving!!
As their name implies, they are Delicious!!
This breed of tomato is great for families that eat a lot of tomatoes because of the vast amount of "Delicious" fruit it produces, and the huge size of the fruit.
I've been eating tomatoes all my life. The Delicious tomato is the Best Red Tomato I have ever grown!.

A true garden behemoth Review by NashvilleHeirlooms

These are huge! I mean really huge! The last reviewer that talked about bragging rights is not kidding. If you want to impress your friends and have that classic heirloom look that costs $5+ at some grocery stores, this is the tomato for you. It's a freak, almost impossible to mess up, hardy and prolific a true heirloom survivor species. Oh I forgot to mention that they taste out of this world. Will grow again next year..

grew plenty to can Review by Karin

In zone 3 we planted about 8 of 33 tomato plants and they all thrived-canned a lot with them-although I have to cook off a lot of water-or skim it off and make tomato soup with it! Had a slight/late case of blight only on one plant-but didn't affect the tomatoes that were ripening. Definately lives up to its name!.
