Fish Pepper

HPP122

80 days. An African-American heirloom popular in the Philadelphia/Baltimore region. A pre-1947 variety that was used in fish and shellfish cookery. The color of the fruit range from green, orange, brown, white and red, being spicy and hot. What really makes this pepper stand out is its wonderful foliage, as the 2-feet tall plants have stunning white and green mottled leaves, which makes this variety superb for ornamental and edible landscaping.

This pepper has a wonderful flavor, we grew it last year and I greatly enjoyed using it in my cooking. The two-toned leaves make it a really eye catching plant. It is also a good producer..

Beautiful fruits and surprisingly vigorous and tough plants (for having mottled leaves). They stayed decently short in stature too, so as to not overwhelm other plants when planted in landscaping..

This will be our third year growing Fish Peppers. We really enjoy them. They are really pretty to look at so we use them as an ornamental. We also sell them at a local farmer's market. They are a pretty decent seller as many pepper fans have never seen them before. They are also our most productive pepper plants..

I love this chili. The fruits are all sorts of colors and the foliage also makes it ornamental. It has good flavor and is easily overwintered in my basement. This one always makes it into my garden. (St Louis region).

Instant favorite. Review by Zone 8b Gardener

Started a single pepper indoors early spring. It grew straight up. Planted it in the ground around six inches tall. My plant shot strait up to about 1 and a half feet, then branched out forming a small canopy. It looks like a little tree.
I underestimated both the spice and the flavor of this pepper. The plant is gorgeous in color and for, and the peppers look and taste very good.
Tolerates heat and root pruning well. When transferring the plant back into a pot the plant did not wilt at all after root pruning and did not lose any leaves, though it dropped some of its flowers..
