Jersey Giant Tomato

TM192

This New Jersey canning variety is on the verge of extinction! Large, 6-inch long, pepper-shaped fruit are packed with great tomato flavor. Delicious fresh from the garden. Their large size makes them a snap to can. Their thick, rich flesh is much tastier than modern paste types, and the fruit have very few seeds. One of my personal favorites.

Contains 15 heirloom seeds

This Is The One!!! Review by Unknown

I am so thankful rare seeds carries this variety. It is a wounderful canning tomato. The vines needed good support, but grew well. I had tomatoes until frost.(longest procucer in my garden.) The fruits are large, a little on the sweet side. Texture is firm, few seeds. The best and easiest to can. Skins slip easily and the flesh is smooth to the touch. I LOVE them..

2010 is the first year I planted the Jersey Giant seeds in our very large garden. I truly wished I had planted more than just 12 into the garden. Each plant was productive but what amazed me most was the absolute wonderful sweet flavor of the sauce it made. Going thru the reduction process making the sauce requires ample amounts of tomato. Next year, I will be able to share more with our friends who were just as amazed as we were..

totally insane Review by old husher

these things are huge and really bulk up any sauce. they're mealiness kinda delegates them to sauce. tis a shame these are on the verge of extinction. saved seeds from some mostly secluded plants last year. i'm crossing my fingers for some true genetics..

Excellent flavourfull tomato Review by Patty

Only planted a few as a test and they totally blew me away had the most incredible harvest over 16 weeks massive fruit, (few seed for their size) very tasty only drawback was they are not good keepers going soft in a couple of days, but didnt matter as I made tons of tomato and onion gravy. We have extremely hight temperatures and I used drip irrigation, the vines were over eight foot tall. Will always keep this one in my garden..

Not for the desert Review by Desert grower

I tried these this year in hopes of making some sauce with them. I had 6 plants that grew to about 6 feet tall. I got 4 tomatoes that were very small. All other types I had did well and produced decent amounts and sizes of fruit. I suspect the heat was the problem with htese as there was severe blossom drop issues from an early age.

Rivals San Marzano Review by Beezup's Farm

Overall Rating

I had doubts that this paste tomato could posssibly rival the yield and consistency of the San Marzano, a astaple in my garden I have tried other pastes and been dissapointed...but not with Jersey Giant! The fruit was HUGE, yields compared to San Marzano and the flavor is superb. Perhaps the best feature is the softer flesh, making it much easier to process than the very hard San Marzanos. .

Great producer Wonderful taste Review by Phyl

Last year was not a good growing season in my Ky garden. Very wet. Most everything had an early blight, including these tomatoes. However, they recovered and did better than any other variety I planted. Very sturdy plants. Large fruit. I will definitely plant them again..

I had a couple of these plants in the garden along with a mess of san marazanos - I wished I would have planted all jerseys! The sauce made with these huge pasters is amazing. Olive oil, garlic and jersey giants! What a cool looking tomato to boot!.
