America’s Top Source for Pure Heirloom Seeds
We have retail stores located in:
Baker Creek has a stunning array of new varieties ready to go for 2011. Here are a few highlights:
Tomato, Icicle Series--newly available in North America and grown from seed imported from the former Soviet Union. Our Icicles come in three colors: Black, Yellow and Pink. All are like long, slender Roma-type fruits, pointed on the blossom end. So pretty in the garden, and so delicious fresh or cooked!
Watermelon--Two new ones this season. Ledmon is a renowned family heirloom from South Carolina, grown there for nearly 100 years. Hamby is a genuine Ozarks heirloom, bred locally before the Great Depression. Both are superb!
Lots of tomatoes, but a favorite is Chocolate Stripes. It's a mahogany-colored large slicer with brighter red stripes. Lovely to look at, and great-tasting as well.
Finally, we're very excited about another former Soviet Union introduction. It's called Rich Sweetness 132. It's small and bright orange, like Tigger Melon or Plum Granny, but so sweet and juicy! To us, it tastes like pears.
These are just a few of the over 60 new varieties we've added to the new catalog and on the www.rareseeds.com site for 2011!
