Orange Icicle Tomato

TO124

Sweet, rich and flavorful with strong citrus overtones made this Jere’s favorite eating variety last season. We just couldn’t get enough of the sweet, luscious, glowing orange icicle-like fruit that are like an extra long paste tomato. This variety also makes a lovely orange ketchup and a superb salsa. It was a definite winner, and plants were quite productive. In our opinion, this is some of the Ukraine’s finest tomato breeding. Fruit have relatively few seeds.

Liking this tomato Review by Braver than most

My son brought this start home and we planted it in our garden. It was slower to ripen than most; but, when it started to ripen, it when nuts. In the past two (2) weeks, we have somewhere between twenty-ftve (25) and thirty (30) tomatoes ripen. It has a pleasant flavor (not to sweet, not to tart). It is mostly Roma shaped ,with more meat than expected. Excellent for munching and salads (good for cooking too).
We are the first of our 75 gardener community to plant it; but several more are interested in growing this tomato nest year. Great going: this is a success!!!!.

Delicious tomato that was easy to grow. Needed a little more water than other types in a similar area but grew tall and produced many tomatoes. .

This tomato struggled during our record hot central texas summer last year. but once temps cooled to 70s-80s, the yield went up. However, we had to harvest them just after Thanksgiving because our first threat of frost. Luckily the tomatoes ripened well in the house. They are quite sweet and go well in salads. Will be planting again.

I purchased this as a plant from a local organic grower. It was root bound and took a little bit to get started. It was spreading and bushy to the extreme. After a few ties to the stake, it was impossible to contain. As a result, some of the fruits were hidden and did not ripen as they would have with better care. Still it was prolific and a delicious sauce tomato. Mild acid but a mellow rich taste. I combined them in a pot with my overabundant Brandy-wines when I got overwhelmed with bounty. This year I intend to prune vigorously to try to capitalize on their productivity. I want to try the pink icicles as well this year..
