Reisetomate Tomato

TM198

The most novel tomato we have seen, this tomato is like a big bunch of cherry tomatoes all fused together: an amazing trait that had everyone here asking questions about the alien-looking, bumpy tomatoes. Also called “Traveler tomato” (“reise” is German for “travel” or “journey”) for the ability to tear it apart a piece at a time, with no need for a knife. This type of tomato traces its roots to Central America where the native people would carry traveler tomatoes on trips, to eat as they walked.
Bright red tomatoes taste--well, rather sour, strong and acid. The perfect tomato for those who love raw lemons, but who cares? They are still far-out and groovy.

Weird alien tomato! Review by Unknown

I may not know what I am writing about, but you should be careful when growing these. I think some of my other varities were polinated by these and ended up in very unusual shapes. Can that happen? It sure seems like it. Next year I wont grow so many unusual shapes..

This oddly shaped tomato has been surprisingly productive here in Oklahoma this year. It set a lot of fruit even with our early flooding and awful heat waves. It's not the best tasting, but it's not bad and it is an interesting shape and keeps pretty well..

I found these last year at two farmers markets I attend regularly. I bought them as I found them very interesting and LOVED them! Now I can't find the seeds to grow in my own organic garden.
If you can find the seeds plant them they are wonderful..

We grew this "brain" appearing tomato last year in very dry conditions and were astounded with the growth and production. The plants grew 7 feet high!!! This was with minimal water. Yield was excellent. The "brain" tomato was tart to the taste buds would grow again but opted to try some new varieties due to the awesome selection offered from my friends at BC.
