Rich Sweetness 132 Melon

OML126

OUT FOR 2012 SEASON Incredible little melons from the former Soviet Union. The fruit are a beautiful red, striped with golden yellow and weigh only about ¼ lb! The flesh is pure white and quite sweet. These have a very refreshing taste and are very fragrant. They are perfect for single servings. These little melons are so much fun and great for children’s gardens. The vines are very productive all season long. One of the best new varieties we’ve discovered in the last few years. Try a few of these delicious little melons in your home or market garden.

Great Taste Review by debfromhouston

These little guys don't really take up much space and they are so good. Not too sweet and taste like cantaloupe with white flesh. Grew these at the office and we all tried it and liked it very much. We will be having these in the garden yearly I am quite sure..

Nice improvement to Plum Granny Review by Max E

Overall Rating

Plum Granny Queen Anne melons are such teases, they smell so good, but no good for eating really, like an odd cucumber. I tried these and I planted seed of Rich Sweetness along with my other melons. I might have also planted plum granny seeds I had left over as well, I am not 100% sure. They look to me like they're nearly identical from the picture above and from what I harvested. So they could be either or. Readily falls from the vine as soon as they start to blush orange. I did notice that a bunch of these melons however, when ripe, split on the blossom end, which only got bigger if you handled it, something I do not remember ever happening with Plum Granny I picked last year. Seems a tad bigger too. Flavor IS better than when I tried Plum Granny. Flavor is still mild, somewhere in between a musky cucumber and a honeydew. My mom said to her they tasted a bit like conventional (as in commercial) honeydew. The jelly part with the seeds in the middle ARE sort of sour and astringent, so scoop, save seed (one melon will provide enough seeds to last forever) and enjoy. Scent is just as good as plum granny, but I suppose since it has a tendency to crack that they're a bit more perishable and not as portable. Still, easy to grow with sprawling but dainty vines, most certainly be trellised and probably would look great as such. Great step, no if they could cross these with a Charentis or Banana melon... .

neat little melon Review by emi11n

These melons are very interesting. Took a little while to really get going, but set a lot of fruit once they did. Got my first melon a couple weeks ago. They are really tiny and very pretty. Flavor was nothing special: not bad, but not very sweet. Just got my second melon today, unfortunately it will be my last this year because the cucumber beetles got to them and they got the wilt. *sigh* I would grow them again though..

Perfect for a child's garden. Review by Mountain martha

Even though they weren't planted in a good location they made several cute little melons. The flavor is rather bland but even so very appealing. The texture is soft and buttery. I'm not sure where the sweetness in the name came from. I will definitely grow them next year. I think they would produce exceptionally well if given a trellis. I don't have much luck with melons in my location so this one is a winner..

Will try again Review by wifezilla

A cute little vine with cute little melons. The squirrels thought they were tasty so I didn't get to try them, but I will try again next year. Did get powdery mildew, but held out longer than other plants in the same area..
