We planted this lettuce in the spring of 2009. We found it produced for a long time and since we had a cool summer we still picked it up until mid June. The lettuce leaves were nice visually and even better for a dinner salad. We had two rows which produced enough lettuce for our entire 6 house block. I would plant the seeds a little farther apart for next year since the rows got very thick. Great lettuce with a nice texture and works with just about any salad fixins..

I can't believe the variety and how well these grew for us until fall. I had so much that I had to share with friends and through out the winter my kids actually missed our salads and want to help plant this year! A friend gave us the seeds and now I am ordering them myself. I highly recommend for those who like greens and salads. Nothing says yummy like FRESH!.

Rocky Top.... ROCKS
Its November 28th and I'm still cutting this delicious blend in Wichita KS. area. (from late summer/fall plantings) Cut for my son yesterday as he headed back to Med. School and daughter today before she heads back to KState. Temps have already been down to 16 degrees so this stuff can take some cold. I have a cheapo cold frame built from old shower doors and cement blocks. A little effort that is sweet as we are still enjoying passing the greens up in the grocery store isle. Placing my order for more next year. Extended family and friends have raved about this blend as well they should. (Little Gem++ working well in cold frame too and it even self seeded in some areas) Some are now motivated to try it themselves. Its kinda humbling to have a 67 year old woman tell me she has now sworn off iceberg lettuce because of this blend. Not surprising though its that good!
Cold Frame will let me get started earlier for next spring too. So maybe I will stretch it to 3x planting cycles next year.
For those looking to stretch their harvest times I recco Four Season Harvest by Eliot Coleman. Dude is in Maine and harvests greens all winter. Up for the Challenge. .

We were still eating this mix in Mesa AZ in May of this year. At the end of may, some of the mix is just now starting to bolt and some is still sweet. I planted it later than I would normally so put it in an areawith only morning sun, planted March 15. We've eaten several wonderful meals off this 2x 2 area. This has become a staple mix in our garden!.

This mix is wonderful! It has a great mix of different lettuces that go together perfectly. None is bitter- just sweet and smooth. You can't go wrong with this one. We have been eating from it for over a month and really no end in sight! .

First time grower for this one - and pleasantly surprised. Lasted much much longer in our heat and kept it's wonderful flavors. Will be tryin it as a fall crop to see if we're equally successful. Definitely a keeper!.

I have been a customer since the mid-2000's and I bought this mix in my first order. I have not bought another blend since! I was surprised to hear KansasCrude talk about it going to 16 degrees without damage (perhaps it is in the greenhouse) as I have had "killing frosts" that caused some damage to the more sensitive red varieties (which are a major highlight of this blend as they are SOOO delicious). But with a little protection you can greatly extend their season. Overall, this is an excellent blend of colors, leaf shapes, and tastes which culminate in one of the most delicious blends you can have in your salads. No wonder it is their best seller. It is a WINNER!!! .

This is our first season trying Rocky Top Blend. Last fall we used an other brand's mesclun mix. This mix is much better! It's the end of Feb, growing season's almost done for us and I'm still harvesting from the 1st bed I planted back in October! We just put in another bed at our Community Garden, and with the PM shade, we are planting 6 more square feet before we give it up for the season. I have faith that it will give us several weeks of cuttings before the heat does it in. BTW, we got down to 22 F, and our lettuce just laughed! We used no protection. 5 stars!.
