The most stunning flower we grew in 2007. The plants themselves are
very ornamental, with red and green variegation on the leaves, making
them look like huge coleus plants. Leaves are edible, and good cooked
like spinach. Plants are colorful all summer, and grow to about 5' tall and
produce masses of bright red flowers in
late summer and continue until frost.
Start early for flowers, as these take
over 100 days to bloom, but are one
of the prettiest plants in the garden
even when not in bloom. From the Himalayan
mountain regions.
