Graves
This variety was discovered in a cattle pasture in Oklahoma and is named after the former owner of the property on which it was found. This is a hard-neck variety of medium height with broad and very dark green leaves. It has the ability to produce large and extra large bulbs under favorable conditions. It has exceptional vigor and is one of the first garlics to emerge under normal planting conditions. In 2006, this variety was the best producer in our growers garden. The flavor of the raw garlic is hot and zesty and the cloves are easy to peel. (1 lb package)

Spanish Red Roja
This hard-neck was introduced in the 1800's and was originally called "Greek Garlic". Spanish Roja is quickly becoming a popular gourmet garlic. The plant has thick blue-green stalks with moderately spreading, thick leaves. Bulbs are generally 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inches in diameter. Thin bulb wrappers with colors from light brown to teak with purple. While cloves can be brownish, ours is a lighter strain. Spanish Roja has a strong, hot spicy flavor. It does not grow well in warm or damp climates, it needs a cold winter climate.
