Sweet Annie
(Artemisia annua) Also called Sweet Wormwood, this herb has
been used since ancient times in Chinese medicine. In 300 AD it
was mentioned in the Chinese book, Prescriptions for Emergency
Treatments, as useful in treating fever. Today this herb is used to
make artemisinin, a drug that is used for treating malaria. This
plant can grow to 6’ or more and has sweetly pungent leaves that
have a camphor-like scent, used in potpourri and wreaths. It is
said to repel moths.
