LEEK (Allium ampeloprasum) Start seeds in a cool indoor environment several weeks before setting out. Sow on surface of the starting mix, and do not allow to dry out. Set transplants out 2-4 weeks before last spring frost. Leeks need very rich soil and a long season. Set the plants in trenches and hill up as they grow, or gradually add mulch until several inches deep. Harvest anytime in early fall, but before the deep cold of winter. 300-400 seeds per pack.

An heirloom that was introduced in 1834, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Large, very thick stems, tasty mild flavor. Grows well in most locations, perfect for home or market, this old favorite has huge size, and is very winter hardy. Pkt. (400 seeds)
