Very good looking mix Review by Unknown

A nice addition to our salads, a little goes a long way.

Bolted early compared to the other lettuces that I grew, but those varieties are more resistent to bolting (Little Gem and Gentilina.)

In hindsight I should have provided some shade to prolong it's life as well as succession planted.

Direct sown in my compost-rich garden and germinated quickly..

Must try it Review by Unknown

Going from purely spinach and romaine salads to this mix was a big step. I could not identify any of what came up, so it took some bravery to put this in a salad, then experience all the unique flavors. Seeing small thorns on some of them might be a tall sell to less daring family members. I planted around 5 times through the season. Now its our absolute favorite salad mix. Since I have the space, I plan next year to buy the seeds individually, and plant individually so that A) I know what to call everything, and B) some of the varieties must require more specific conditions to germinate, so I'll know when I need to replant a specific type. I will probably order this again in a few years once I have more experience with the components. March planting bolted relatively quickly. We've had many fall salads so far(now early October) with the most recent frost having no ill effect..

Zesty salad mix Review by Kir

We love this mix. It's a bit spicy and has lot of different textures. Very easy to grow and harvest. Careful with the mustard seeds, they have a way of going wild in our garden. Try a mustard vinaigrette with it..

Interesting and fun Review by Kari

I grew this lettuce during the past two months. It's getting a little hot for it now in my area (zone 9) but I still have a couple plants going strong.
This was my first time growing lettuce and I'm a new gardener so I don't have much experience, but I enjoyed this mix. I will grow it again in the fall because I just planted a small patch in January to see what was in this mix.
I was a little nervous about identifying the different lettuces. I was able to get online and figure out the mizuna and the corn salad and the kale and chard I already knew, but a couple others in the mix I didn't ever identify. Wish I could. Would like to know which seed goes with which plant so I can pick and choose a little more next time when I plant. Will pay more attention in the fall when I plant. Will probably plant a butterhead lettuce in the fall and then supplement some with this mix. It seems like I would have to grow quite a lot of this mix to really make many salads.
Everything grew fine. Mizuna bolted quickly in the heat. Corn salad is still going strong and it's in the 80s now here..

interesting mix of green vegetables Review by Stelios

I planted the seeds in August (in Greece) and when they started sprouting I couldn't know which where my plants which where weeds. When they finally grew enough for eating I could not identify much of what came up, so as another man said it took some bravery to put this in a salad! But the taste was good, interesting I'd say and surely better than plain lettuce. The color and the different shapes add a luxury to your salad! And for those who don't like big changes in their old dearest lettuce salad, they can add smaller quantity of these vegetables and it will be just fine! ps: To make the perfect salad add virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt.

Great Combo of Flavors! Review by lednum413

This is the perfect compliment to their Rocky Top Lettuce Mix as this adds a well-rounded variety of sweet and spicy flavors and a nice complexity that will make any salad made with commercially-grown "iceburg" letuce seem pathetic. I always plant this blend with the Rocky Top Mix and get rave reviews of my salads from family and guests no matter what combination of veggies are tossed in with them. Trust me... buy both blends, and for one $6 purchase you'll get more than your money's worth and eat more delicious salads than you could ever put together from the grocery store..

First-timer to this mix. Never again the ho-hum of black headed simpson lettuce, or other varieties. Planted here in middle-Tennessee the middle of September in a short 2' x 4' wide row and broadcast all the seeds in one packet. We've eaten frest picked salad greens all fall/winter and shared with our neighbors. It's now February 2, 2012 and will pick again tomorrow for a fresh weekend salad. With our mild winter this year, and covering it (chicken wire covered with old sheet) on our coldest nights, this mix has really surpassed our expectations. My husband has put the mix on his sandwiches, and will eat it straight out of the garden. Best benefit was no insects or damaged leaves. .

we planted a variety of greens in zone 3 and I thought I"d have to succession plant, but one row of this, chard, spinach and red romaine and we were good for all summer and well into our unusally mild autumn also-with enough to share with friends. Didn't have a problem with any of these with pests and very hearty through a few frosts too..
