After reading previous reviews, I felt compelled to offer a defense for this excellent variety. My climate is the southwest desert and this tomato plant reached at least 15ft tall and produced a TON of tomatoes only to be stopped by the killing frost in December. It is Excellent with a sweetness that is combined with a tartness at the same time. Tip, pick and eat while fruit is still firm and not soft and dull yellow color, it loses its flavor when overripe. It loves plenty of room and compost..

I grew this one in a 15 gallonpot w/ plenty of compost on a twice-daily timer irrigation system. i gave it fish emulsion twice a week and I was drowning in tomatos...
build a trellis fot this arrangement to support the enormous weight or your pot will tip.

Great sandwich tomato Review by Janmac
Overall Rating
Summer of 2009 was cool and cloudy in Mid-Missouri, not so good for tomatoes. The Green Zebra did okay, better than the larger varieties we planted. We discovered that these are the best sandwich tomatoes. Felt to see if they were ripe, rather than looking at their color. Had them on a south facing slope with good drainage, woven wire fencing support. Will plant them again..

WOW! Review by Unknown
Overall Rating
Just picked my first Green Zebra of the season and my tastebuds were overwhelmed with flavor. This is hands down one of the best tasting tomatoes I have EVER tasted. Plants are fairly compact and look to be high yielding. Germination was 100 percent in a greenhouse environment started very early. These plants will be in my garden EVERY year from here on out..

I found this to be a disappointing tomato. The flavor was nothing spectacular, and the skin was somewhat tough. They did yield very well, despite a pretty puny summer..

We had a dreadful growing season in Helena MT this year and all the tomatoes we planted out at the end of June were frozen. (It actually snows almost every month of the year here).
However I did rescue one and put it in a pot by the front door and all our visitors were astonished by the lovely taste. We will definitely grow these again next year..

Very tastey tomato Review by Unknown
Overall Rating
As the previous reviewer commented, these may not be the most productive variety but they have a very distinct, sweet taste that we absolutely love. I would not depend on them for a main crop but I've grown a few of them for the last two years and think they are a great contrast to the acidity of most red varieties..

Great for BLT's Review by Unknown
Overall Rating
I tried grow these guys last summer in the Texas Panhandle, but found that they don't like me. Either that, I didn't water them enough. The few that I did get made the best BLT ever. Just add a little blue cheese and you're good to go.
This is great tomato, but it takes work to keep it going here north of Amarillo..

Fantastic Taste and Great Producer Review by Unknown
Overall Rating
I chose this tomato for fun and I was so surprised at how well it grew and produced with very little maintenance on my part. I planted GZ in the summer of '08 in eastern KS and it was by far my most prolific producer of the year of all the tomatoes I planted (8 varieties). It also was far hardier than all the other varieties and withstood some light frost. I picked the last tomatoes off the GZ vine in the first week of November.

First time trying a green tomato Review by Zia
Overall Rating
This is my first time growing a green variety of tomato. It's a tasty one, but my slight gripe is the color. I like the fact that orange, yellow, red, etc tomatoes can be seen much easier in the vegetable garden. If I had had lots of these green tomato plants in my garden, I think my eyes would have gone kabooey. :).

Good but not fabulous Review by Unknown
Overall Rating
The good: nice flavor, tangy, makes a great fresh salsa. Prolific plants. No disease problems or cracking. Fun color.
The bad: rather tough skins. Small fruits. Hornworms loved this variety. Slow to ripen both on and off the plant.
All in all, I don't regret growing and will probably grow some next year, mainly for making a fun salsa verde..

The BIG thing in this season for me Review by Levente
Overall Rating
This tomato won me several customers at the local farmer's market. Even after the supply had exhausted (due to very bad weather in early fall) people came to me just to see and buy this beauty!
The plant itself was fairly fool-proof to grow and started to produce those striped tomatoes. The very first fruits all were deformed and infested with a fungus (black, sooth-like mold around the top of the fruit), but later on the disease was cleared and the tomatoes were healthy.
The taste was perfect. Not too sweet, not too sour but sweet and sour enough for the locals. The plants were prolific as well. I was amazed how well the local, rural population reacted to this unusual tomato at the market stall. Sold much more than I initially expected but the unfortunate bad weather stopped the show for the season by mid-September. Next season I plan to plant more..

One of my favorites Review by James in south western Kentucky
Overall Rating
Fruit do not get very large but the flavor is wonderful and the yields are good. It has a delicious tangy flavor without being overly acidic and some fruit will have a hint of sweetness. The colors make it fairly easy for you to let the fruit over-ripen if you aren't careful and attentive. Flavor will quickly fade and the texture softens considerably. I did better judging peak ripeness by feel than by look. Variety seems fairly crack resistant and relatively hardy..

Pretty and prolific! Review by Jenny
Overall Rating
This is a great tomato! Small but plentiful. They are tangy but sweet, and I don't think there is a better salsa tomato around. Chop, add jalapenos and cilantro and devour! They make a wonderful thick sauce when cooked; I love them added to sauteed zucchini. And their lovely bright green color is a bonus. I did notice that with the intense heat and drought we had for a few weeks this summer, this was the only tomato to suffer from blossom end rot. But only about 25% of the fruits had problems, and interestingly, none of them split like the big heirlooms I was also growing. I also never notice any insect problems other than hornworm, but those aren't really an issue in our garden; they are all taken out by parasitic wasps.
In short--a highly recommended tomato to add variety to your garden and tomato salads!.

Don't know WHY people like these Review by Lee in Iowa
Overall Rating
Sure, they're prolific...and they reseed like crazy in the garden. But they go from ripe to painfully sour so quickly, I can never tell whether I'm cutting into an edible tomato or a nasty surprise. Also, the ripe ones just don't have a flavor I like--they're either bland or lemon-like..

Great Taste, High Yield Review by Jeff
Overall Rating
I love this little tomato. It has a great taste and yields a lot of tomato's per plant. I have grown these for 4-5 years now and wouldn't have a garden without them. It adds a nice color to any recipe that calls for a fresh tomato. Great in everything from Salsa to chili..
