Best Purchase Ever Review by TurboMicah

In my quest for the best tasting tomato, my best friend told me to purchase a pack of Carbon seeds from Baker Creek. I did. This was the best purchase of my life! I am in Love with the Carbon tomato and so is my entire family! I mainly eat them on tomato sandwiches, or slice them to eat with a meal.
Carbons have an exceptionally rich yet sweet, smoky flavor.
Some compare the taste of Carbons to a Steak. I concur.
Carbon tomatoes do not crack as much as other tomatoes and do not have the "rugged" look of most heirloom tomatoes.
If you are looking for a game changer, purchase a pack of Carbon seeds from Baker Creek. You will not be let down!.

Taste is hard to beat Review by Unknown

Grew this beauty in 2009, easily one of the best tomatoes I have ever had the pleasure of growing. Medium yield but the fruit are somewhat thin skinned and easily damaged if not picked carefully. Got rave reviews from friends, family and neighbors. This is one that will be in my garden for many years to come..

Grew these in 09, good, long, yield of large smooth dark mauve/champagne colored fruit, flavorful as well, resistant to cracking, quickly becoming a garden favorite..

Big disappointment Review by Unknown

I have 2 big, beautiful Carbon tomato plants that produced around 6 tomatoes total. And those tomatoes just didn't have very much flavor to them. I have not seen any new flowers on them for around a month now, so it may be time to pull them out and forget about them. I love purple tomatoes (Black Cherry, Black from Tula, Black Krim) and don't understand what went wrong with this cultivar, since all my other tomatoes thrived with large yields this year. Actually, it has been a fabulous tomato season except for Carbon..

Best so far Review by Johnboy

I'm over in the southeast of England in Kent. Starting in my propagator, I grew a few of these in my polytunnel and put some spare ones outside on my veggie plot. I also had in my tunnel Black Cherry from Baker Creek and from UK suppliers Cuore di Bue, San Marzano 2, and Gartenperle from the Lidl supermarket chain. Some years I grow Super Marmande and usually have Gardener's Delight, Ailsa Craig, Alicante - common UK ones.
Why all this detail? Well, the flavour and texture of Carbon, including the neglected ones outdoors, was superb and the best of the lot. We had a prolific crop too. Sliced with either mild onion or mozzarella and dressed with extra virgin olive oil and a little white wine vinegar, perhaps a pinch of salt or a few basil leaves - wow - the taste of summer.
I'm growing them again this year hoping for a repeat!.

Sweeter than I thought Review by Illia

On the obsessed hunt for many, many purple varieties to try, the Carbon was on the top of our list. Well, now that we've got plenty to eat, I have to admit - They're a little sweeter than most other purples, which surprised me, but are still very good and definitely worth growing again! Very productive, heat and drought tolerant, and many of mine turned out just as neat and gnarly looking as a Black Elephant tomato. Few of them cracked..
