superb beets Review by babacapra

These are incredible. So buttery and earthy-tasting. The greens are good as well, but I just loved these beets steamed and served with butter, salt and pepper. Can't wait to grow them again..

3rd time's a charm Review by Unknown

First attempt at growing them: in garden soil mixed with my heavy clay soil of NE Ohio; red beets grew very well but the golden beets looked more like strings with sickly green leaves attached.
Second attempt at growing them: in ammended garden soil that was very loose and broken up; red beets, carrots, radishes all grew well but the golden beets grew about the same size as a small radish then quit.
Third attempt at growing them before pitching the seeds in the trash: in organic potting soil in a container; FINALLY . . . Golden Beets!
So, after 2 summers I have cracked the secret of cultivating these . . . you need VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY loose soil that will not in any way get compacted, so I have a new garden container plant..

pretty good 'cept for germination Review by old husher

had some difficulties germinating these in comparison to bull's blood, crapaudine, and chioggia. not sure why. so i probably only got about half the yield as the other varieties. market folk's love them. i blame user error for poor yields and will attempt again in 2011..

Best tasting beets Review by Mary

First time growing the golden beets, and they are now my favorite. I use the beets and the greens in fresh salads, and adds great flavor. In fact I like the greens as much as the beet,. Cooked they are amazing, sweet and buttery. I live in Michigan with hard clay soil, so I did have to add some loose soil to the area I planted but they grew very well. Plan to plant these every year..

Worth the effort Review by Spick

These are harder to germinate, but worth it. The flavor is excellent and the greens are great in salads. It helps to soak the seeds..

My husband likes them! Review by hthr_leo

Getting my husband to eat new vegetables is sometimes a full fledged battle. I love beets, he hates them...at least until he tried these. They are not as strong as a red beet (I personally love that most beets taste like dirt, but I can understand why not everyone does.) He likes these. It is a big step for him into the world of veggies. I love it when I can get him to consume something other than iceberg lettuce!!!! I grow the reds for me and enough yellows to share..
