Jaune Obtuse du Doubs Carrot

CR120

A delicious, bright lemon-yellow carrot that comes from France. Mentioned in 1894, it was originally used as a stock carrot for livestock. This big, thick yellow carrot has been winning over chefs and gardeners, for it has a fine, sweet taste that is hard to duplicate in modern carrots.

Contains 800 heirloom seeds

Love this carrot! Review by Unknown

This carrot was the earliest carrot of the five kinds I grew this year, ready to use three weeks before any orange carrots. The color is truly lemon, and looks just as great when cooked -- very impressive. They are tender and flavorful and sweet. I will be growing this carrot again..

Pretty color, but not my favorite for flavor Review by Sue

This was an earlier carrot and grew HUGE this year. A bit "hard." Not really woody, but just harder to cut than the St. Valery that I like. It was good in soups and stir frys but I did not care for it raw. My garden is zone 5a, Central NY State..

The Best Yellow Carrot Around Review by Garry & Wendy

Overall Rating

We grow a lot of heirloom carrots for selling as bunches, and the Jaune Obtuse is the best yellow carrot we have grown. It is sweet, easy to grow, can grow large if you let it, and has a beautiful color and somewhat green hue on top. If you want a yellow heirloom, this is the best..

Beautiful and Tasty Review by Rachel

I'm not a big carrot fan, but I could not pass on growing multi-colored carrots! This variety was my favorite for eating raw - sweet and crispy, with no bitter aftertaste. I'm looking forward to having more this summer!.

took too long Review by bostongrower

I tried to grow these for two years without much luck. I planted the seeds around the last frost date in an outdoor container garden and harvested 100 days later, and they were still pinky size or smaller. After reading the other reviews, it seems like this might be a unique problem since others have had success. I am in Boston (zone 6), so maybe these don't work as well up North, or it might be a problem with the soil..
